How to choose the style of your digital menu

The same menu can look four ways to your guests: Classic, Showcase, Night and Notebook. Here you'll see what changes in each one, where to pick it and how to check it before you save.

Quick answer

Open Settings and, in the General box, find the Menu style field. Tap Preview to open your public page in that style, pick the one that suits your place and tap Save. Guests see the new style right away, whether they come in by the table QR code or by your link.

What the menu style is

The menu style is the look of your public page: how items, photos and prices appear to whoever opens your menu on their phone. It only changes the presentation. Your items, categories, prices, sizes and photos stay exactly the same, and ordering works the same way in every style.

There are four options. Classic, which every restaurant starts with, is a list with a small photo next to each item. Showcase puts each item on a big card with the photo on top. Night has a dark background and writes out each item's add-ons on a single line, with nothing to open. Notebook is text only: no photos, with an index of your categories and the week's opening hours in a column alongside, and it turns a category into one price table when every item in it comes in the same sizes, like pizzas in S, M and L.

Why the right style matters

  • Good photos get more room. In Showcase the photo fills the whole card, so if you took care with your dish photos, they do the selling.
  • A long menu stays easy to read. In Notebook, a pizza category with the same sizes becomes a single table with one price column per size, instead of repeating S, M and L item after item.
  • The page matches your place. A bar or a late-night pizzeria feels at home on Night's dark background; a neighbourhood snack bar, on Notebook.
  • No risk of getting it wrong. The Preview link opens your page in that style without changing anything, and you can switch styles as often as you like.
  • Your hours are on show. In Notebook, the side column lists the week's opening hours with today highlighted.

How to change your menu style, step by step

Five steps, all on the Settings screen.

  1. Open Settings

In the dashboard, open your account menu and tap Settings. The style field is in the first box, General, just below the restaurant's description.

  2. Read the four options

Under Menu style you'll see four cards, each with a small sketch of the look, its name and a short line: Classic, Showcase, Night and Notebook. The selected one is the style your guests see today.

  3. Tap Preview

Every card has a Preview link that opens your public page in a new tab, already in that style and with your real items. It doesn't save anything, and the preview doesn't show up on Google: it's only there so you can compare.

Tip: Open the preview on your phone. That's how most guests will see your menu, and on a phone Notebook's index becomes the category bar along the top.
  4. Pick the style and check the header

Tap the card of the style you want. The Header style field just below switches to the suggested match: Brand for Classic, Cover for Showcase (only if the restaurant has a photo), Dark for Night and Cream for Notebook. It's just a suggestion: you can change the header before saving.

  5. Tap Save

The Save button is at the bottom of the page, after the opening hours box. From then on, everyone who opens your menu by the table QR code or by your restaurant link sees the new style.

Frequently asked questions

Which style is selected by default?+

Classic. Every restaurant starts with it, and nothing changes on your page until you pick another style and tap Save.

If I choose Notebook, do I lose my dish photos?+

No. Notebook just doesn't show photos; they stay saved on each item. Switch back to Classic, Showcase or Night and the photos reappear exactly as they were.

When does Notebook show the price table?+

When the category has at least two items and all of them have the same sizes, with the same names in the same order, and at least two sizes each. Then the category becomes a table with one column per size. If one item has different sizes, the category shows as a normal list.

Does Showcase work for items without a photo?+

Yes. An item without a photo shows on a card with just its name, description and price. Showcase works best, though, when most of your dishes have a photo, because the photo is what fills the card.

Does changing the style affect orders?+

No. Items, prices, sizes and add-ons are the same in every style, and the order reaches the Kitchen exactly as before. The style only changes the look of the page your guests see.

Do guests see the Preview page?+

No. The preview only opens for someone with the link to that style, it doesn't change your menu and it stays off Google. For your guests, only the saved style counts.
