A low score alerts the owner before the guest leaves

An unhappy guest almost never complains to your face: they pay, smile and never come back. Here we show the path a score of 3 stars or less takes to your Dashboard, and what you can do with the minutes left while they're still sitting at the table.

Quick answer

The alert fires instantly: a low score, 3 stars or less, updates the owner's Dashboard that very moment. If the guest left a private note to the owner, it appears in the Ratings to check block, with the score and the text, giving you time to fix things before the guest leaves.

What the instant Dashboard alert is

The low score alert is the shortcut that links the guest's rating screen straight to your Dashboard. When the order is Served, the table page shows the How was it? invitation with the Rate your order button. The guest says what was worth it dish by dish and gives a score from 1 to 5 stars — and, if that score is 3 or less, we push a signal to the Dashboard that very moment.

What lands there is the Ratings to check block, with the Private note to the owner: the field at the end of the rating, which the guest reads as a place for something they wouldn't say in public. That note is stored separately on purpose — it doesn't go on the public page, doesn't become a score and doesn't enter any feed. The only place it shows up is your Dashboard.

Why an instant alert changes the evening

  • There's time to fix it at the table. Between the guest sending the rating and asking for the bill there are a good few minutes. In that window you can go over, listen, redo the dish or apologize — which is what almost always saves the evening.
  • You hear what nobody tells you. Nearly every complaint dies on the way to the register. The private note field exists to catch the honest version, without the audience at the next table.
  • The alert doesn't depend on anyone remembering. It doesn't go through the waiter or the kitchen, and it doesn't become a paper slip: it leaves the guest's screen and lands straight on the Dashboard of whoever makes the calls.
  • Nobody installs anything. qmen.us runs in the browser on both ends: the guest rates from the table QR code, no account and no app, and you get it in the Dashboard tab you already have open.
  • No commission. qmen.us is free for the restaurant, with no percentage per order. We're not a marketplace and we don't process money — PIX, when used, is arranged directly between you and the customer.

How the low score alert works, step by step

Seven steps: three on the guest's side, on their phone screen, and four on yours, on the Dashboard.

  1. Understand when the invitation appears

The invitation doesn't appear at just any time: it shows up when that table's order is Served and hasn't been rated yet. Then the table's public page, the same one the guest opened from the Table QR code, gets the How was it? card with the order's items and the Rate your order button. An order still Preparing shows nothing.

  2. See what the guest answers

There are two short screens. On the first, What was worth it?, they give each dish a thumbs up or down and can attach a photo of the item. On the second, they tap the stars, check quick tags like Hot food or Slow, and write in the two text fields, each up to 600 characters.

  3. Know the difference between the two text fields

The Public comment is written with whoever orders after them in mind. The Private note to the owner is something else: it sits in a separate block on the screen, with the prompt "Something you wouldn't say in public", and that's the text that becomes the alert on your Dashboard. Nothing is required — they can send just the stars.

  4. Keep the Dashboard open and get the alert

A score of 3 stars or less fires the alert the same second the guest sends it: the open Dashboard updates on its own, without you pressing anything. A 4 or 5 with a note isn't as urgent — it comes in with the next refresh, which happens every minute anyway while the screen is in view.

Tip: It's worth keeping the Dashboard open on your phone during service. It's the same screen as on the computer, and that's where the alert lands.
  5. Read the Ratings to check block

The alert shows at the top of the Dashboard, in an orange block called Ratings to check, with a counter next to the title and a note that it's a private note from the guest. Each line shows the star score, the order name, how long ago it arrived and the text in quotes. The ten most recent notes not yet acknowledged are on display.

  6. Go sort it out while you can

Next to each line there's View order, which opens that order with its items, amount and table — enough to know where to go and what the person is talking about. If they rated without being signed in, you won't have their name: the way to find them is the order's table.

  7. Tap Got it to clear the alert

The alert stays on the Dashboard until someone clears it. Once you've sorted it out, tap Got it on that line: it disappears from the block and doesn't come back on later refreshes. Until someone taps it, it stays there on every load — on purpose, so no note gets lost in the middle of service.

Frequently asked questions

Does a 4 or 5 also alert instantly?+

The instant alert is only for 3 stars or less. A note with a high score isn't lost: it goes into the same Ratings to check block, just on the Dashboard's next refresh, which happens on its own every minute while the screen is open.

Does the private note show on the menu for the public?+

No. It's stored separately from the public rating precisely for that: it doesn't go on the public page, doesn't enter any feed and doesn't become a score. The only place it shows up is the block on your Dashboard.

Do I get the alert by email or as a phone notification?+

No. The alert lives on the Dashboard: with the screen open, it updates on its own right away; with the screen closed, the block is waiting for you when you open it. There's no app to install — qmen.us runs in the browser, phones included.

Does the guest need an account to rate?+

No. They open the table QR code, rate and that's it, no sign-in. If they're signed in to their guest account, the visit is saved to their profile and their name goes with the rating; without an account, the rating reaches you anonymously.

What if the same person rates twice?+

Each order takes only one rating. After sending, the How was it? invitation disappears from the table page, and anyone trying to go back the old way is sent back to the table screen.

What does the guest see after giving a low score?+

A confirmation screen with Thanks! and, when the score was low, a note saying the owner has just been notified and there's still time to make it right before they leave. In other words: they know someone is coming — it's worth showing up.
