Open the Dashboard and tap the order in the Live orders list: the order details show the table, the waiter, each item with its status and the total. Down at the bottom are the owner's three actions: close the bill, mark as paid and free the table.
What the order details screen is
The order details are the owner's read-only screen: a single page with the header (the place, the order name, the number, the waiter and the status label), the list of items and the total at the bottom. It isn't the waiter app — here you don't add or delete any items, you just look and decide.
Below the total are the owner's three buttons: Close bill, Mark as paid and Free table. Each one only appears when it makes sense: Close bill waits for the order to leave Draft, Mark as paid disappears once the order is paid, Free table only exists on orders that have a table (Delivery and Via chat don't), and a cancelled order shows no actions at all.
Why open the order before closing the bill
- It's the only screen that brings the whole order together. On the Dashboard you see a summary row; here you see item by item, with each one's note and status, the total already calculated and which waiter has the table.
- The three actions are independent. You can mark as paid without closing the bill, close the bill without freeing the table and free the table on a bill nobody marked as paid. You use them in whatever order your restaurant works.
- Close bill locks the order. After that the waiter can't add or change any item on that order — which is what stops that last beer from landing on a bill the guest already paid.
- Everyone sees it instantly. Each of the three actions updates the table's page, the waiter's phone and the Dashboard at the same moment. Nobody has to reload anything or shout from the register.
How to open and use the order screen in 7 steps
There are seven steps: four to read the screen and three to use the buttons that wrap up service.
-
Open the order from the Dashboard
Go to the Dashboard and look at the Live orders block: each row is an open order, with the table, the items, the total and the status label. Tap the row and you land on the order screen. There are other ways in: an occupied table's card, under Tables, has the view link, and the low-score rating notice has View order.
-
Read the header to see whose it is
At the top is the place — Table 5, Delivery or Via chat — and, next to it, the order name, if the waiter gave it one (handy when the same table has two separate bills). Below, in smaller type, the number and the waiter: Order #128 · with Ana. On the right is the status label: Draft, Ordered, Preparing, Ready, Served or Cancelled.
-
Check the items one by one
The list shows the quantity and name of each line — 2× Grilled picanha — and, right below, in small type, the note the waiter wrote. A custom item, typed in on the spot, shows up with its own text. Each line has its own label: Waiting, Preparing, Ready, Served or Cancelled. An order that's still empty shows No items.
-
Check the total and the labels
Below the list comes the Total, highlighted, in the R$ 42,00 format, and cancelled items don't count toward it. If the order has already been marked as paid, the Paid label appears right next to the amount; if the table has already been freed, there's a small Table freed. just below. It's the summary you read out to the guest.
-
Close the bill when the guest asks
Close bill appears as soon as the order leaves Draft and disappears once the bill has been closed. We ask first — Close the bill? You can't add items after that. — because this locks the order: the waiter can no longer add, edit or cancel any item on it. The order then counts as Served and you stay on the same screen.
-
Mark it as paid to record the payment
Mark as paid is a single tap, with no confirmation, and works for any payment method: cash, card machine, PIX arranged right there. The total gets the Paid label and the button disappears. It's a record, not a charge — qmen.us doesn't process money and doesn't charge commission per order.
Tip: A delivery order paid by PIX has its own path: it waits in the Payments to confirm block on the Dashboard, and it's Confirm payment there that marks it paid and releases the order to the kitchen. -
Free the table for the next guests
Free table only exists on orders that have a table, and it's what puts the table back among the free ones. We confirm first — Free the table for the next guests? — and then take you back to the Dashboard, which is where you handle the next one from. Freeing doesn't mark as paid, and marking as paid doesn't free: they're separate decisions on purpose.
Frequently asked questions
Can I edit the order from here?+
No. The order screen on the Dashboard is read-only: it shows items, notes, status and total, and offers the owner's three actions. Adding, correcting and cancelling items is the waiter's job, in their app. Once you tap Close bill, not even they can change it.
Is closing the bill the same as marking it as paid?+
No. Close bill closes out the order and stops new items; mark as paid only records that the money came in. You can do one without the other, because a bill isn't always paid the moment it's closed.
I freed the table by mistake. Now what?+
The table counts as free again and the button disappears from that order — there's no undo on the screen. The order is still there, with its items and total, and you can still mark it as paid. If the guest is still seated, the waiter opens a new order at the same table.
Does marking as paid change the revenue in the report?+
No, it doesn't. The report counts the orders sent to the kitchen in the period, not the ones marked as paid. The Paid label is your own note about that bill, not a cash entry: qmen.us doesn't process money and doesn't charge commission per order.
Why did the order's buttons disappear?+
Because the action has already been done or no longer applies. Close bill doesn't appear on a Draft and disappears once the bill is closed; Mark as paid disappears when the order is already paid; Free table disappears after freeing and never appears on Delivery or Via chat, which have no table. A cancelled order shows no actions at all.
Do I need to install any app?+
No. qmen.us runs in the browser: the same address opens on the register computer, the tablet and the phone, and there's no app to download from any store. Once you're signed in to your account, the Dashboard and the order screen are right there.
