How to hide an order from the table page

The page the table's QR code opens belongs to whoever is sitting there, and sometimes an order doesn't need to be on it. With one tap in the waiter app, you take that order off the table page without touching anything else: the kitchen cooks, the waiter serves and the bill closes as usual.

Quick answer

In the waiter app, open the order and tap Hide from table page, at the bottom of the screen. The order disappears at once from the page guests open from the QR code. The kitchen, waiters and dashboard keep seeing it as usual. To bring it back, tap Show on table page, in the same spot.

What hiding an order from the table means

The table page, at qmen.us/code/t/table, shows the order happening now and the one before it, with the items and the status of each. It's public: anyone with the QR code, or with the link someone shared in a group chat, sees what's there. Hide from table page is a switch on each order, in the waiter app, that takes that order off this page. If your place calls its tables tabs, the button reads Hide from tab page.

Hiding only hides: the order isn't cancelled, its status doesn't change and it stays on the bill. It carries on as usual on the kitchen display, in the waiter app, on the owner's dashboard, on the printed ticket and on the ready orders screen, if your place uses one. With it gone, the table page shows the table's other orders, or the note that there are no orders yet.

Why hide an order

  • A table shared by different groups. At the counter or a communal table, whoever sits down later doesn't need to see what the other group ordered.
  • Privacy for whoever ordered. A birthday surprise, or an order the guest would rather not leave in view of anyone who has the table's link.
  • The table link gets around. Anyone who saved the link or got it in a group chat still opens the same page. A hidden order doesn't show up for anyone there.
  • Nothing changes for the team. The kitchen cooks, the waiter serves and closes the bill as usual; only the public page stops showing the order.
  • It comes back with one tap. Made a mistake, or the guest changed their mind? The same button becomes Show on table page.

How to hide and show it again in 5 steps

Five steps, from the waiter app to a table page without the order.

  1. Send the order to the kitchen

The button only appears on an order that's been sent. If the order is still a draft, finish adding the items and tap Send to kitchen.

  2. Open the order in the waiter app

Under Active orders, tap the table's order. The order screen opens with the items and, at the bottom, the buttons for handling the table and the bill.

  3. Tap Hide from table page

At the bottom of the order screen, next to Free table, tap Hide from table page. There's no confirmation: the order disappears at once from the table page, and anyone who has it open sees the change without reloading.

  4. Check the table page

If you want to be sure, open the table's QR code on your phone. The hidden order no longer shows there, and the table's other orders stay just as they were.

Tip: Freeing the table already clears the page for the next guests. There's no need to hide orders one by one at the end of a visit: hiding is for while the table is still occupied.
  5. Show it again whenever you want

In the same spot, the button now reads Show on table page. Tap it and the order comes back to the table page at once, with the items and the status of each.

Frequently asked questions

Does the kitchen still see a hidden order?+

Yes. Hiding only takes the order off the public table page. It stays on the kitchen display, in the waiter app, on the owner's dashboard and on the printed ticket, and the bill closes normally.

Does a hidden order show on the ready orders screen?+

Yes. The dining-room TV calls out what's ready by table, by order number or by name, depending on how you set it up. If privacy matters there too, leave Show the customer's name off.

Can a guest who ordered on their own phone still follow it?+

Yes. A guest who ordered through the QR code chat follows it on their own tracking link, which doesn't depend on the table page.

Does hiding cancel or delete the order?+

No. The order stays exactly the same: same items, same status and same bill. It just stops showing on the page the table's QR code opens.

Can I hide a draft?+

No. The button only appears after the order is sent to the kitchen. While the waiter is still taking it, a draft with items already shows on the table page, with the note Putting your order together.

Who can hide an order?+

Any of the restaurant's waiters, from the waiter app, on the order screen. In the same way, any waiter can show it again.
